Tired and Weary

Who does God say you are…when you are tired and weary?
In the garden, Jesus asked his disciples three times to pray; three times they fell asleep. (Luke 22:40-46) Have you ever intended to prayer, but when your eyes closed your mind drifted and you did not complete your communication with your Lord? I have; many times. At those times, I didn’t acknowledge my praise or listen to His ever quiet voice. I may have missed His direction or guidance. Does that mean whatever Jesus asked me to do, didn’t get done? Would the results of Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion have been different if The Disciples had prayed like Jesus asked?
God doesn’t rely on us. In fact, He doesn’t even need us. But He does want us. He wants us to seek Him and feel the strength of His hope. He wants us to know the joy of trusting Him. He wants to meet our needs. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV)
When drama taking place around us wears us down, we need our Lord’s strength. “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” (Psalm 73:26 NIV) If fatigue and weariness overcomes us, we need to remember we are a child of God and can curl up in His loving, protective arms anytime.

What do you do when circumstances leave you spiritually weary?
